The AII Permanent Secretariat took part in the 16th Coordination Meeting of Regional Organizations held at the Permanent International Secretariat of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), in Istanbul, Türkiye on 8 December.

The AII Permanent Secretariat is proud to announce the launch of the 3rd edition of the Call for Ideas and Award Competition “ IMAGINE!” Active Young Citizens for Sustainable Development in Central European Initiative and Adriatic Ionian Initiative Areas. It is designed to stimulate the engagement of youth in the Central European Initiative (CEI) and the Adriatic Ionian Initiative (AII) regions in the framework of the United Nations Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
On November 23, Adriatic Ionian Initiative (AII) Secretary General, Ambassador Castellaneta and Secretary General of the Forum of the Adriatic Ionian Chambers of Commerce (Forum AIC), Mr. Michele De Vita, signed the convention between the AII Permanent Secretariat and the Forum AIC on the “Western-BALKANship” project.

The AII Round Table on Interuniversity Cooperation, named "Recovery plan for Interuniversity Cooperation in the Adriatic - Ionian Region: What can we expect in the next 3-year time?” organized by UniAdrion in cooperation with the AII Permanent Secretariat and the University of Zenica. The Round Table took place on November 28th in Zenica, within the framework of the AII Chairmanship of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On 7 November 2022, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov hosted the annual meeting of the CEI Foreign Ministers in Sofia. Supporting Ukraine in the ongoing Russian aggression against it; mitigating the impact the war is having across the region, on its citizens and economies; furthering European integration and diversification of energy supplies, were among the topics analysed and discussed, especially with regard to the recent escalation in Ukraine, witnessing attacks to cities and civilian infrastructures.
The Ministers underlined the CEI’s valuable role in fostering constructive regional cooperation among its Member States and its concrete actions. They noted that this role had become even more vital in view of the pressing international challenges; and that it would be of particular importance also in rebuilding Ukraine and in the European integration process.
The Ministers identified coordination, solidarity and unity as the answers to the pressing issues. This and other important messages were sent and incorporated into their Joint Statement adopted at the end of the gathering.
