On December 18, 2024, the University of Ioannina hosted the AII Round Table "UniAdrion in the Center of Quadruple Helix for Ionian-Adriatic Sustainable Development", bringing together representatives from academia, government, industry, and civil society to discuss innovative approaches to regional challenges.

 

The event was opened by Prof. Anna Batistatou, Rector of the University of Ioannina, who welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of collaboration across sectors. Among the distinguished speakers was Prof. Igor Nedelkovski, Rector of the University of St. Kliment Ohridski in Bitola, North Macedonia, who will assume the UniAdrion presidency in the coming term.

Representing the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII), Executive Officer Filippo Alabardi delivered a statement highlighting the vital role of the Quadruple Helix model in addressing sustainable development goals. He reaffirmed the AII’s commitment to fostering partnerships that connect universities, local authorities, businesses, and civil society. Alabardi underscored the significance of youth-focused initiatives, such as scholarships and internships, which empower young leaders to drive regional integration and innovation.

The round table demonstrated the transformative potential of cross-sector collaboration, aligning academic excellence with practical solutions for sustainable growth in the Adriatic-Ionian Region. The AII looks forward to continuing its support for UniAdrion and similar initiatives that strengthen regional cooperation and inclusivity.
