The AII Secretary General, Ambassador Castellaneta, met the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio on June 26th 2020 in Rome. Among the topics of discussion: the activities of the AII Permanent Secretariat, Italy's economic relations with the Western Balkans and the EU enlargement policy towards the Western Balkans.

TENTATIVE CALENDAR OF EVENTS - SLOVENIAN CHAIRMANSHIP 2020-2021
The Web-meeting on the protection and promotion of the rights of children in the Adriatic Ionian area is organized by the Office of the Marche Region Ombudsman in cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative and by the Marche Region, as Italian Project Partner of the EUSAIR Facility Point.
The webinar is organized by Marche Region, as Italian Project Partner of the EUSAIR Facility Point, in cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat of the Adriatic Ionian Initiative, within the framework of the initiatives related to the celebrations of the twenty anniversary of the Ancona Charter and of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.
Mediterranean Coast and Macro-regional Strategies Week 2020 will take place from 14 to 25 September 2020 in the coastal town of Izola and remotely via the EUSAIR Stakeholders Platform.
A series of events will address the current challenges and future potentials of the Adriatic Ionian Sea and Coast.
The first AII Committee of Senior Officials under Slovenian Chairmanship will take place in Izola (via videoconference) on September 15th, at 10.00 a.m. (CEST).
The AII Permanent Secretariat Programme of the Activities will be presented together with the Priorities and indicative calendar of events of the Slovenian Chairmanship for the period 1 June 2020 – 31 May 2021.
The annual Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the Central European Initiative (CEI) was held via videoconference on 24 September 2020, under the Montenegrin CEI Presidency and in cooperation with the CEI-Executive Secretariat.
The Meeting under the topic CEI Region – Transition to a New Normal was chaired by H.E. Mr. Srđan Darmanović, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, and was attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs, State Secretaries as well as high representatives of CEI Member States. The Meeting was also attended by several Special Guests of the Presidency.
The AII Round Table on Inter-University Cooperation in the Adriatic and Ionian Region, organized by the AII Slovenian Chairmanship in cooperation with UNIADRION and the AII Permanent Secretariat, will take place on the 17th of November 2020, h.14.00 - 16.00 (online).
During the Round Table participants will discuss the present situation and future perspectives of higher education challenges and responses in Covid time within the Adriatic Ionian Region.
A joint meeting among the AII Slovenian Chairmanship, the AII Permanent Secretariat and the three Fora of Civil Society (Chambers of Commerce, Cities and Universities) took place online on December 9th 2020.
The event has been an opportunity to exchange views on topics and issues of common interest, on the future of regional cooperation in our Region as well as an opportunity to deepen the cooperation between the Fora of Civil Society and the current Slovenian Chairmanship of the Adriatic Ionian Initiative.
