Conference on “Financing the EUSAIR” held in Cesenatico

On Saturday 28 October, the international Conference “Financing the EUSAIR” was held in Cesenatico (Italy). The aim of the event was to create a first occasion for cooperation among EUSAIR Governance, the private sector and International Financing Institutions (IFIs). Among them, the European Investment Bank, the Development Bank of the Council of Europe and the Italian “Cassa Depositi e Prestiti” attended the meeting that was chaired by the Italian Undersecretary of State, Sandro Gozi. The AII Secretary General, Amb. Castellaneta attended the meeting and addressed the audience by highlighting the role of the AII supporting the participation of Adriatic and Ionian stakeholders to the macroregional process, facilitating the establishment of new partnerships for the presentation of strategic regional projects to be presented for funding to EU Programmes or to International Financing Institutions.

Italy takes over the AII Chairmanship, as well as the Chairmanship of the EUSAIR, starting from June 2017 and after the conclusion of the Hellenic Chairmanship with the AII/EUSAIR Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs held within the EUSAIR Forum of Ioannina .
In its AII chair capacity, Italy intends to further strengthen the AII role as an essential instrument for fostering regional cooperation, by completing Round Tables progressive alignment to EUSAIR Thematic Steering Groups and by strengthening policy dialogue and cooperation among AII Member States, as well as between AII and other regional cooperation fora, such as the Central European Initiative.
Adequate attention will be paid so as to further strengthen dialogue with civil society through cooperation with the Adriatic-Ionian Fora, (Cities, Chambers, Universities) as well as enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation.
